I have the software which was enclosed with the cord. Device manager under Win7 and XP (Virtual PC) both have the parallel port listed as LPT1 working correctly, the Win7 has the correct driver installed, the Virtual PC only has a Microsoft driver (cannot install the real driver).

Surely Microsoft must have figured out how to connect the Win7 Sftware to in my computer to a device via the USB to serial port.right? PS. I have friends who have advised me to give up and find an older computer with a 9 pin serial port, and use a simple serial to serialĬord. The instructions that came with the USB to serial port cord doesn't even apply to windows 7. This would have been simple in XP, but win 7 gives no clue how to connect This cord would connect via a 9 pin serial plug to my ham radio. I have been trying to add a cord to connect my Dell Studio 540 USB port to my ham radio 9 pin serial port.
